Alameda Sister City Association (ASCA) has its roots in the
2006 efforts to establish sister city relations with a City in China. While
activities which lead to the eventual official Sister City relationship between
Alameda and Jiang yin City in China progressed and in recognition that a
structure and funding would be needed for Sister City activities, founding
members of what would become Alameda Sister City Association began work to
establish a not for profit organization. ASCA was incorporated with work
progressing to put by-laws and other corporate structure in place. ASCA has
been recognized by both the State of California and U.S. Federal government as
a non-profit organization and is actively building its membership to support
the Sister City mission:
“To promote peace through mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation — one individual, one community at a time.”
